I went to a local high school in Oakland,

talked to and observed high school atheletes.

Some tied plastic bags with their muddy

shoes onto their backpacks, others had multiple

bags with shoulder straps criss crossed over their

bodies. Tenth grader Tori, who runs track,

tested out a prototype for a week. Among the

research, I found problems with the velcro and

discovered new ways to attach it on a backpack.
